Field Applications Engineer

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of an established semiconductor technology provider supporting customers in the design and optimization of power electronics solutions. This role is part of a North American sales organization and focuses on providing hands-on technical support to engineers throughout the product evaluation, design, and implementation process. The position is field-based within the western United States and involves regular travel to customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical advisor to customers, supporting the selection, design, and optimization of power conversion solutions

  • Partner closely with regional sales teams to provide pre- and post-sales technical support

  • Guide customers through product evaluation and implementation to achieve optimal performance

  • Perform hands-on laboratory work, including breadboarding, testing, and validating customer solutions

  • Deliver technical presentations and product training to customer engineering teams

  • Respond to technical inquiries via phone, email, and on-site visits

  • Analyze customer designs and provide recommendations related to performance, reliability, and compliance

  • Maintain strong organization and documentation of customer interactions and technical findings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred

  • 2–3 years of experience in a sales engineering or field applications role

  • Practical experience in AC–DC power conversion design

  • Demonstrated experience with magnetics design

  • Familiarity with EMI and safety standards applicable to power electronics

  • Exposure to power conversion applications in industries such as industrial systems, consumer electronics, or power supplies is preferred

  • Prior experience supporting semiconductor-based power conversion products is a plus

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and laboratory skills

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to varied audiences

  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 40% within the assigned region
