Senior Business Development Manager – Aerospace & Defense

For our client, a German-headquartered technology company specializing in advanced electronic platforms and custom-engineered system solutions, we are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager – Aerospace & Defense to support the continued development of its U.S. business.

The company provides high-performance electronic solutions for demanding and mission-critical applications. Its customers include technology companies, system integrators, and manufacturers operating across the aerospace, defense, communications, sensing, and high-performance computing markets.

This position combines strategic business development, consultative technical sales, and long-term account management. The successful candidate will develop new business opportunities, expand existing customer relationships, and strengthen the company’s presence within the U.S. aerospace and defense market.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand the company’s aerospace and defense business across the United States
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new customers, applications, and long-term project opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with defense contractors, aerospace manufacturers, system integrators, technology companies, and specialized suppliers
  • Manage and strategically develop existing customer accounts
  • Position complex electronic platforms and custom-engineered system solutions with technical and commercial decision-makers
  • Provide consultative support to customers in evaluating technical requirements and potential solutions
  • Identify emerging customer requirements, technology needs, and market opportunities
  • Manage business opportunities from initial engagement through technical evaluation, proposal development, commercial negotiation, and contract award
  • Prepare proposals and support pricing and contract negotiations in close cooperation with company management
  • Develop and implement customer-specific account and business development strategies
  • Maintain an accurate opportunity pipeline and provide regular revenue forecasts, customer updates, and market intelligence
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product development, technical support, and company leadership
  • Communicate relevant customer and market requirements to internal technical teams
  • Monitor market developments, competitor activities, and technology trends
  • Represent the company at customer meetings, industry events, conferences, and trade shows
  • Support product presentations and other customer-facing activities throughout the United States

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline; an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may also be considered
  • Several years of successful experience in technical sales, business development, or strategic account management
  • Relevant commercial experience within the aerospace and defense electronics market
  • Established relationships with aerospace and defense contractors, system integrators, platform manufacturers, or related technology organizations
  • Experience selling complex, highly engineered electronic systems, embedded computing solutions, or comparable technology products
  • Understanding of long-term development, qualification, procurement, and production cycles
  • Strong technical understanding of electronic system architectures and the use of electronic hardware in demanding operating environments
  • Ability to understand customer requirements and work with internal engineering teams to develop commercially viable solutions
  • Experience preparing and negotiating complex technical and commercial proposals
  • Confidence engaging with engineering leaders, system architects, program managers, procurement professionals, and executive stakeholders
  • Strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, high degree of initiative, and consistent focus on business results
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with international teams
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the United States
  • Professional fluency in English
