Technical Account Manager
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of an established industrial technology organization serving advanced research and manufacturing environments. This role focuses on managing and growing customer relationships for complex technical equipment used in laboratory and production settings. The position combines consultative sales, account management, and technical collaboration, with a hybrid work arrangement based out of a Chicago-area office and regular travel to customer sites across the United States.
Key Responsibilities

Manage assigned customer accounts to achieve annual revenue, margin, and growth objectives

Identify new business opportunities and emerging markets, and contribute to account and territory strategy

Develop and maintain strong relationships with engineers, researchers, and decision-makers at customer organizations

Present and explain advanced measurement, inspection, and analytical solutions to technical audiences

Lead the full sales cycle, from initial inquiry through quotation, negotiation, order processing, delivery coordination, and payment completion

Maintain accurate and up-to-date account activity, opportunities, and forecasts within a CRM system

Conduct regular customer meetings, including new account introductions and ongoing strategic reviews

Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely follow-up on quotations, demonstrations, and customer requests

Participate in industry events and trade shows, including planning, on-site support, and post-event follow-up

Travel regularly to customer locations to support sales activities and account development
Qualifications

2–5 years of experience in technical sales, account management, or inside sales within an industrial or technology-focused environment

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience

Experience managing multiple accounts and opportunities simultaneously

Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Familiarity with CRM platforms and standard business productivity tools

Strong organizational, time management, and follow-up skills

Willingness and ability to travel domestically on a regular basis

Bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese is a plus, but not required
